About 1Money
1Money is a fast-growing global fintech building the world's first full-stack
stablecoin payments infrastructure. Our mission is to enable frictionless, ultra-low-cost global money movement
— built to the standards expected of financial infrastructure: correctness, security, compliance,
reliability, and operational discipline.
- Backed by top-tier global investors including Fidelity (F-Prime), Galaxy
Ventures, Portage, Hack VC, and Tribe Capital.
- Our team brings experience from world-leading organizations such as
Binance, Ripple, Circle, Uber, Goldman Sachs, Ant Financial, and OKX.
What we build:
- 1Money Network: a Layer-1 purpose-built for
stablecoin payments — designed to be the cheapest, fastest, and most compliant.
- 1Money.com: a fully licensed stablecoin
orchestration platform offering on/off ramps, exchange, transfer, and custody.
- 1Money Issuance Platform: end-to-end
infrastructure for businesses to issue and scale their own stablecoins.
Role Overview
We are hiring a senior backend engineer in India to build and scale global
fiat connectivity for 1Money. This role focuses first on integrating banks, payment
providers, local payment rails, liquidity partners, and compliance/risk vendors across markets. Over time, it may
expand into adjacent domains such as trading, treasury, account onboarding, auth, stablecoin issuance, and core
platform architecture.
You will design APIs, vendor adapters, payment workflows, reconciliation flows, asynchronous jobs,
and operational tooling supporting fiat pay-ins, payouts, prefunding, settlement, transaction monitoring, and
partner integrations. India's timezone is strategic — it gives us follow-the-sun
coverage for global banking partners across Asia, EMEA, and the Americas.
The right person is not just a feature implementer. We are looking for an engineer who can reason about distributed systems, financial state transitions,
idempotency, retries, observability, data integrity, and production incidents.
What You Will Work On
Global Fiat Connectivity
- Build and own integrations with banks, payment processors, local payment
rails, liquidity providers, and vendor APIs.
- Design reliable pay-in and payout workflows across multiple
jurisdictions and currencies.
- Implement vendor adapters, routing logic, webhook handlers,
reconciliation jobs, and operational dashboards.
- Handle real-world payment edge cases: delayed confirmations, duplicate
webhooks, partial failures, returned payments, provider downtime, inconsistent vendor statuses, and compliance
holds.
- Partner with product, operations, compliance, and banking partners to
turn business and regulatory requirements into robust technical systems.
Backend Systems & Platform Engineering
- Build high-quality backend services and modules in Rust, with strong
attention to safety, performance, maintainability, and correctness.
- Design REST APIs, internal service interfaces, webhooks, async jobs, and
event-driven workflows.
- Work with MySQL/PostgreSQL, Redis, queues/messaging systems, and cloud
infrastructure.
- Improve reliability through idempotency, retries, dead-letter handling,
observability, structured logging, tracing, metrics, alerting, and runbooks.
- Make practical architecture trade-offs across speed, reliability,
operational cost, compliance, and long-term maintainability.
High-Correctness Financial Infrastructure
- Work on transaction routing, settlement, balances, reconciliation,
transaction monitoring, and operational controls.
- Protect data integrity across asynchronous workflows and vendor-driven
state changes.
- Build systems that are auditable, observable, and safe to operate in a
regulated fintech environment.
- Write and review Tech Designs for cross-domain or high-risk changes
before implementation.
AI-Assisted Engineering
- Use AI development tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Copilot) to
improve development speed and code-review quality.
- Apply AI tools responsibly within the security, data-handling, and
compliance constraints of a regulated financial institution.
- Improve team workflows, documentation, test generation, debugging, and
operational analysis using AI-assisted methods — without outsourcing engineering judgment.
What We Are Looking For
Required
- 5+ years of professional backend or platform engineering experience,
with a track record of owning critical systems in production.
- Rust strongly preferred. Strong engineers
in other systems/backend languages (Go, Java, C++) without deep Rust experience are welcome, provided they can become productive
in Rust quickly — our core platform is Rust.
- Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, networking,
operating systems, concurrency, and distributed systems.
- Experience designing and operating production backend systems with
databases, caches, async processing, queues, and external APIs.
- Practical experience with API design, idempotency, retries, error
handling, observability, and debugging production issues.
- Strong SQL skills and experience designing data models for correctness,
auditability, and operational use.
- Clear written communication and the ability to work across time zones
with engineers, product, compliance, and operations.
- Ownership mindset — able to take an ambiguous integration or
system problem from design through production support.
Strongly Preferred
- Experience in payments, fintech, banking integrations, FX, trading,
treasury, reconciliation, ledger/balance systems, or regulated financial infrastructure.
- Experience integrating third-party vendors or financial partners where
API behavior, webhooks, and operational edge cases are imperfect.
- Production Rust, especially async Rust, Axum, SeaORM/sqlx, Tokio, or
similar backend stacks.
- Event/messaging infrastructure: Kafka, SQS/SNS, NATS, or
RabbitMQ.
- AWS/GCP/Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and production observability
tooling.
- Exposure to stablecoins, digital assets, wallets, custody, on-chain
payments, or blockchain infrastructure.
Education & Background
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software
Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field — or equivalent practical
experience.
- We value strong engineering fundamentals and evidence of high judgment.
Candidates from IITs, IISc, IIIT-Hyderabad, BITS, top NITs, and comparable global
universities are encouraged to apply — but school brand is not a substitute
for demonstrated engineering quality.
- Experience at high-performance engineering organizations in fintech,
payments, banking, crypto, cloud infrastructure, e-commerce, consumer tech, or enterprise platforms is highly
relevant.
What Success Looks Like
First 3 months: understand the 1Money platform, ship scoped
backend changes, contribute to one or more fiat connectivity integrations, and participate effectively in
technical design and code review.
First 6 months: own a meaningful integration or subsystem
end-to-end — API design, vendor behavior, persistence, async jobs, observability, incident handling,
documentation, and operational handoff.
Over time: become a key India-based owner for global fiat
connectivity, with the ability to expand into other high-impact backend domains as the team scales.
How We Work
- We build financial infrastructure where correctness matters.
- We prefer clear domain ownership, strong technical design, and pragmatic
implementation over architecture theater.
- We use AI tools to move faster, but we do not outsource engineering
judgment.
- We work across regions and time zones — written communication,
ownership, documentation, and operational clarity matter.
- We expect engineers to care about production behavior, not only code
delivery.
Our Tech Stack
Async Rust (Axum, SeaORM, Tokio) · MySQL · Redis · event-driven
services (Kafka / SQS) · AWS · Docker. You will work in a Rust-first backend codebase serving
regulated, money-movement workloads.
Location & Reporting
- Location: India (Remote), with Bengaluru
preferred where possible.
- Reports to: Engineering Leadership.
- Collaboration: close overlap with our Asia/UAE,
Brazil, and US teams for global engineering coverage.
